Consulting in German-Italian economic relations
The shortest route between Germany and Italy is just 64 km of Austrian country roads and motorways. And yet, in some respects, business life in both countries is worlds apart – both in terms of the mentality of the business partners and in terms of the legal and tax framework.
With the establishment of our Italian Desk since 2011, we have responded to the high demand for advice among small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany and Italy. We support our clients in their cross-border activities, both Italian-speaking clients in setting up business activities in Germany (inbound consulting) and German entrepreneurs who want to enter the Italian market (outbound consulting).
Services of our Italian Desk:
- Italian-speaking contact persons
- Labour law and general contract law
- Commercial and distribution law, including e-commerce
- Corporate law, including insolvency law
- Preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns
- Financial and payroll accounting
- Registration with authorities

Oscar-Heinrich Berning is a German lawyer of German-Italian origin with several years of work experience in cross-border legal transactions in law firms in Germany and Luxembourg. In addition, he worked full-time for more than three years as the managing director of a real estate company in Italy and has thus become very familiar with business life in Italy. He advises our Italian clients in particular on commercial and labour law.
In addition, our tax team includes other German-Italian employees who are able to communicate competently and reliably in Italian with our Italian clients on all relevant tax issues.
Legally secure employment contracts with qualified employees are indispensable for optimal and sustainable expansion. The focus of our labour law advice for Italian clients is therefore the drafting of bilingual employment contracts and managing director contracts as well as general advice on all other aspects of individual labour law. In addition, we offer individual advice on the secondment of Italian employees to Germany.
Where necessary, we also enforce your rights in court. With us you are comprehensively covered – also in labour law.
- Commercial and distribution law
Another core competence of the Italian Desk is advising on all aspects of distribution law. For example, we advise our clients on the drafting of bilingual commercial agency and authorised dealer agreements.
In addition, our German-Italian lawyer supports Italian companies in drafting bilingual general terms and conditions as well as in all questions related to e-commerce.
Here too, if a dispute arises, we are also there for our Italian clients in court!
As an internationally active law firm, we also offer comprehensive support in corporate law as part of our German-Italian legal advice. We focus in particular on the establishment of subsidiaries, but also offer our Italian-speaking clients comprehensive advice on the drafting of contracts under company law and on other questions of company law.
Our clients can also count on us in matters of taxation: From the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns, financial and payroll accounting as well as registration with authorities, we can optimally cover the needs of our Italian clients.
Due to our German-Italian contact persons, there is no language barrier, because we meet our clients at eye level: both professionally and linguistically.
We offer our services in the field of Italian-language legal and tax advice with a focus on German-Italian business relations from our Frankfurt am Main office.
Due to our extensive network with, among others, German-speaking Italian lawyers and tax advisors, we are also able to support German entrepreneurs who want to enter the Italian market (outbound advice).
